Yaletown Dentistry / Services / Digital X-rays
Low dose, on screen immediately, and taken because there is a reason — not because it is on a schedule.
Digital sensors need a fraction of the radiation of the old film, and the image appears on the screen straight away so we can look at it with you rather than describe it to you.
Most of what matters in dentistry happens where you cannot see: between teeth, under fillings, and in the bone. That is what these are for.

On the screen beside you, so you see what we are seeing.
Between-teeth decay and bone levels. The routine ones.
The whole jaw, for wisdom teeth and joints.
Used for implant planning.
Frequency follows your risk, not a fixed calendar.
You get an itemised written estimate before anything starts. We bill your insurance directly, so you usually pay only your own portion on the day, and the Canadian Dental Care Plan is accepted. In-house financing is available through PaySpyre, so treatment can be paid for over time.
Dental imaging uses radiation. Your dentist weighs the diagnostic benefit against exposure and selects the images needed for your care.
It depends on your risk. Someone with a history of decay needs them more often than someone with none. There is no single correct interval.
Yes. Understand that it limits what we can diagnose — decay between teeth and bone loss are invisible without them.
Tell us you are pregnant. Clinically necessary dental X-rays can be taken during pregnancy; your dentist will explain why an image is needed and follow applicable radiation-safety requirements.
