Home Care Tips for a Healthy Smile
Preventive Guidance | Yaletown Dentistry
Great oral health does not stop at the clinic door. We send you home with clear, practical guidance so your smile stays strong between visits. The basics matter more than most people think, and small changes in your daily routine can make a big difference at your next check up.
Brushing
Twice a day, two minutes each time, with a soft bristled brush. Electric brushes are great if you tend to rush. Focus on the gumline and the chewing surfaces of your back teeth. Replace your brush or brush head every three months.
Flossing
Once a day, every day. Floss reaches the 35 percent of tooth surface that brushing misses. Wrap it in a C shape around each tooth and slide it gently below the gumline. If traditional floss is tricky, water flossers and interdental brushes work well too.
Diet and Habits
Limit sugary snacks and acidic drinks. Drink water after coffee or wine. Avoid chewing ice or using your teeth as tools. These small habits add up to fewer cavities and healthier gums over the long run.
