Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride Treatments in Vancouver

Preventive Care | Yaletown Dentistry

Fluoride is one of the simplest ways to strengthen enamel and guard against decay, and it takes just a few minutes. We offer professional fluoride treatments for both kids and adults as part of a prevention first approach. If you are prone to cavities or just want an added layer of defence, this quick, painless treatment is well worth the trip to Hamilton Street.

Why Professional Fluoride?

Over the counter toothpaste contains a small amount of fluoride, but professional treatments deliver a concentrated dose directly to your enamel. The result is stronger, more resistant teeth that are better equipped to fight off decay between visits.

Who Benefits Most?

Children with developing teeth, adults with a history of cavities, patients with dry mouth, and anyone who wants to take a proactive approach to prevention. Quick, painless, and done before you even have time to scroll through your phone.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X Rays in Vancouver

Diagnostic Imaging | Yaletown Dentistry

X rays show us what is happening beneath the surface, things a visual exam alone cannot catch. Our digital system captures detailed images quickly, with significantly less radiation than older film based X rays, and the results appear on screen in seconds. That means faster diagnoses, smarter treatment plans, and less time in the chair for you.

If it has been a while since your last set, it is a good idea to get updated imaging so we have a clear baseline for your care.

What Digital X Rays Reveal

X rays help us identify issues that are not visible to the eye, including: cavities between teeth, bone loss from gum disease, infections at the root of a tooth, impacted teeth, cysts or tumours, and the position of teeth that have not yet erupted.

Safety

Digital X rays use up to 80 percent less radiation than traditional film. We also use lead aprons and thyroid collars for added protection. The images are instant, so there is no waiting for film to develop, and we can zoom in on areas of concern right on screen with you.

Home Care

Home Care Tips for a Healthy Smile

Preventive Guidance | Yaletown Dentistry

Great oral health does not stop at the clinic door. We send you home with clear, practical guidance so your smile stays strong between visits. The basics matter more than most people think, and small changes in your daily routine can make a big difference at your next check up.

Brushing

Twice a day, two minutes each time, with a soft bristled brush. Electric brushes are great if you tend to rush. Focus on the gumline and the chewing surfaces of your back teeth. Replace your brush or brush head every three months.

Flossing

Once a day, every day. Floss reaches the 35 percent of tooth surface that brushing misses. Wrap it in a C shape around each tooth and slide it gently below the gumline. If traditional floss is tricky, water flossers and interdental brushes work well too.

Diet and Habits

Limit sugary snacks and acidic drinks. Drink water after coffee or wine. Avoid chewing ice or using your teeth as tools. These small habits add up to fewer cavities and healthier gums over the long run.

Dental Exams in Vancouver

Dental Exams in Yaletown, Vancouver

Preventive Care | Yaletown Dentistry

Prevention is the best investment you can make in your smile. Regular exams let us catch small things early, before they turn into bigger, more expensive problems. Your check up includes a thorough look at your teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissues, plus a conversation about anything that has changed since your last visit.

What Happens During an Exam

A visual inspection of every tooth and all the soft tissue in your mouth. A gum health assessment measuring pocket depth around each tooth. An oral cancer screening. A review of any existing restorations. Digital X rays if needed. And a one on one conversation with your dentist about findings and next steps.

How Often Should You Come In?

For most patients, every six months is the right cadence. If you have active gum disease, a history of frequent cavities, or other risk factors, we may recommend more frequent visits. We will work with you to find the schedule that keeps your mouth healthy without over treating.
